A cruise in the desert

I like this time of the year, we are in the middle of spring and the Resort and Cruise collection of big brands are released!
This year really big names decided to release their resort collection: Prada, Dior, Chanel and Louis Vuitton.
When brands create Resort collections, it's a breath of fresh air in the middle of the traditional A/W and S/S collections.

Prada, for its Resort collection, opted for destructurated and revisited bomber jackets, shirt dresses and pale pastel colours.
The bomber jackets are the thick and sporty, in contrast with the soft and light materials of the skirts. I liked the contrast between fabrics, colours and styles.
The best look of this collection, in my opinion, were the ones made in pastel colours and silver sequin details.

Another big name is Dior, which decided to give another sense to its Resort collection, calling it a cruise in the desert, but the show took place in Los Angeles!
I must admit that I liked the style that Maria Grazia Churi was giving to Dior in general. Unfortuntely, for me, this cruise in the desert was not so great. The nice soft and light dresses are a must, but the warm colours, western boots, hats and coats were not made for Dior.
However I really like the see-though dresses with the classic Dior straps or decorated with crystals.

Chanel for its Resort collection decided to catapult us in the ancient Greece. The woman of Karl Lagerfeld is a goddess in the hot weather of Greece. The inevitable Chanel tweed are revistited in mini dresses with gladiator sandals and golden headbands. The designer also took inspiration for the collection by the ancient Greece fashion with imperial long dresses and little details such as jewelry and belts.

Louis Vuitton, instead, created its Cruise collection for a metropolitan cruise in Japan! The collection was characterized by patwork coats with suede, leopard print and leather. Long striped shirts, short leather mini skirts and sparkly dresses were a must for this collection, that in my opinion, does not reflects the classic mood of a Cruise or Resort collection. However, Louis Vuitton mainted its unique style without surrender to the usual cruise style.
Between the models, there was also Bae Doona, aka Sun from the Netflix series Sense 8. I loved her! She almost mixed up with all the other models!

What do you think of the Resort collections? Do you find them interesting or just a further occasion for a fashion show?
Personally I think they are nice but I like when they represent the mood and style of a Resort of Cruise collection,

That's all for now

Talk to you soon!
Cannes is calling!!
