This year the theme was an omage to Rei Kawakubo, designer for Comme des Garçons and her collections. The event was co-chaired by Katy Perry, Pharrell Williams, Gisele Bundchen and her husband Tom Brady and of course Vogue's director Anna Wintour.
Let's start from the mm meh! I mean, these are amazing outfits and looks but maybe they were not so suitable for the theme. Maybe they were more appropriate for a simple gala or event, but not for the Met and its theme.
Giselle Bundchen wore a silver dress by Stella McCartney and her husband Tom Brady wore a Tom Ford suit.
Candice Swanapoel chose a nice black gown by Topshop with Lorraine Schwartz jewelry.
Also Behati Prinsloo chose a white gown by Topshop with Harry Winston jewelry.
Joan Smalls was team Topshop too, with a silk crepe dress with cutouts and Swarovski crystals, little chains and a deep tear to show her long legs. She completed her outfit with Jimmy Choo bag, Anita KO jewelry and Stuart Weitzman shoes.
Anna Wintour's daughter Bee Shaffer looked radiant with her fiancè Francesco Carrozzini (son of the late Franca Sozzani) and her floral dress with long train by Alexander McQueen.
Kylie Jenner chose an embellished gold Versace gown with Lorreainze Schwartz jewels and one of ther new super short haircuts.
Her big sister Kendall, opted for a more reveiling dress by La Perla Haute Couture with Christian Louboutin shoes, Ofira rings, Lorraine Schwartz earrings and Tomasini clutch.
Emily Ratajkowski wore an amazing colourful Marc Jacobs gown that reminds me the paiting "Starry Night" by Van Gogh. This gown is so beautiful but not on theme!
Another dress that was not on theme was the outfit of Lena Dunham by Elizabeth Kennedy. This is definitely her style but I'm not sure it's the right one for the event.
Also Selena Gomez was quite underwhelmin with her pale gown by Coach. At lwast she brought her new beau The Weeknd with her on the red carpet.
Gigi Hadid wore a gold asymmetrical and decostructed gown by Tommy Holfiger with a mini dress on one side and a tulle long skirt on the other.
Blake Lively chose another amazing piece of fashion but not on theme! She wore a gorgeous custom made dress by Atelier Versace with Lorraine Schwartz jewels.
Now let's pass to ones that were really on theme! They were Commes des Garçons!
Priyanka Chopra, who wore a custome trench coat made into an evening gown with a very long train. This outfit is so common but at the same time it was transformed into something special with just few changes.
Claire Danes wore a black and white look by Monse with Fred Leighton jewelry.
Matthew Rhys wore a custom black wool double breasted jacket and a traditional Welsh kilt by Abraham Moon.
His partner, Keri Russell, instead wore a black custom collar tuxedo with a Lee Savage clutch.
Chrissy Teigen, accompanied by her husband John Legend, wore a custom black and white floral lace Marchesa dress with sleeked back hairdo.
Cara Delevingne opted for a silver Chanel suit and her new bald look! She painted her head in silver to give a touch of glamour to her look!
Lily Collins chose a pink Giambattista Valli gown with Charlotte Olympa shoes, and Tiffany & Co. jewelry and a new unmistakable new haircut.
Zoe Kravitz was stunning in her pink Oscar de la Renta gown with Tacori jewels.
Hailey Baldwin wore an adorable pale pink gown by Carolina Herrera with Gigi Burris custom headpiece (omg I love this accessory!), Lorraine Schwartz jewelry, Edie parker clutch and Giuseppe Zanotti shoes.
Katy Perry wore a very eclectic red number by Maison Margiela by John Galliano. She wore wool coat with a chiffon dress and red silk veil all over her look.
Pharrell and his wife Helen wore both Commes des Garcons entire outfits. They were so on theme! Especially Helen!
Rose Byrne accompanied by her husband Bobby Cannavale, wore a red tulle dress by Ralph Lauren with Edie Parker clutch.
Thandie Newton chose a red custom made one sleeve dress with Swarovski crystals by Monse, a floral headpiece, Fred Leighton and Jennifer Fisher jewelry and Stuart Weitzamn shoes.
Ashley Graham opted for a glamourous red H&M gown with Jimmy Choo clutch, Schutz shoes and Piaget jewels.
Rita Ora opted for a red custom made Marchesa gown made of draped satin ribbons all over her body with a big bow on her shoulder.
Another total red outfit was the one of Rami Malek in his Dior suit. Love it so much!
And now let's pass to my favourite!
Lily Aldridge in her white custom Ralph Lauren Collection dress. The dress was a silk one shoulder dress with cutouts, accessorized with Balenciaga shoes, Bulgari jewelry, Lee Savage bag and a fuchsia lace accessory to her face. Maybe it was that little detail that made me love this outfit.
Dakota Johnson wore a black custom made Gucci gown with Cartier jewelry and she's simple a dream!!! I'm in love with this dress os much!! She was accompanied at the event by the Gucci's designer Alessandro Michele who showed up with another unique Gucci jacket!
Rihanna wore the most eclectic Commes des Garcons's outfit and I think she's the winner of the Met Gala 2017!
However, apparently the real party was not on the dance floor as usual, but in the bathrooms! Through the Instagram and Snapchat guests' profiles, we had a taste of this! And it seemed kinda awsome!
